“At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We remembered them.”
Every year the nation unites to make sure that no-one is forgotten and to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. However, in these unprecedented times, the country sadly could not show their respects as they usually would.
This year, a minimal number of ex-servicemen and Club representatives from our community came together in a socially-distanced service to commemorate the fallen and lay their wreaths as an act of remembrance.
Watch the event here:
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.“
“When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today.“
In addition to those who made today’s act of remembrance possible, we would also like to thank Club members and professional photographers/videographers, Jason Butcher & Fiona Jones for sharing with us the below video they created to document Keith Bean’s personal mission to remember those of The Great War buried at Aldershot Military Cemetery.
This video shines a light on Aldershot’s forgotten war graves of 692 men and women from the Great War and the true community spirit it brought to the military town in Hampshire…
